THE NETHERLANDS VIETNAM HORTICULTURE BUSINESS PLATFORM PARTICIPATES IN THE 8TH EXHIBITION ON SEEDS AND HIGH TECH AGRICULTURE, HOCHIMINH CITY 2022

On the morning of August 18, 2022, at the Biotechnology Center of Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with the Department of Science and Technology, the Management Board of the Hi-tech Agricultural Zone of Ho Chi Minh City have held the Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition & Trade Fair on Seeds and High-tech Agriculture in 2022.

There are 315 booths of 140 participating units, from 22 provinces and cities, including: Hanoi, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Long An, Tien Giang, Vinh Long, Ben Tre, Soc Trang, Can Tho, Dong Thap, An Giang, Tay Ninh, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc, Kien Giang , Hau Giang, Lam Dong, Hai Duong, Lao Cai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Quang Binh.

The exhibition showcased and introduced the city’s agricultural achievements, key products, OCOP products, outstanding plant varieties, livestock and aquatic products of enterprises, institutes, schools…; scientific and technological research results, machinery, equipment, modern technology, biotechnology…

The exhibition displays ​​agricultural products of the provinces and cities focuses on introducing typical OCOP products and highly effective plant varieties.

Within the framework of the Fair-Exhibition, many other practical activities took place such as contest-exhibition of ornamental fish; Workshop on “Improving economic value in city dairy farming”, “Agricultural economic thinking in the production and cultivation of seeds, young plants”, “Ornamental fish in production, access to the domestic market” and export”.

The fair will take place from August 17 to August 21, during which time people can freely visit and shop from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Visit of the NVHBP delegation to UET-VNU

On August 12, 2022, Faculty of Agricultural Technology (University of Technology – Hanoi National University) welcomed the delegation of the Netherlands – Vietnam Horticulture Business Platform (NVHBP) in Hanoi led by Mr. Eijik – Chairman of the Platform, the Head of the delegation to visit and work at the University.

The working session by Prof. Dr. Le Huy Ham – Dean of Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Dr. Le Thi Hien – Vice Dean of Faculty and Dr. Pham Minh Trien – Vice Dean of the Faculty chaired.

Responding to the interest of the NVHBP delegation, Prof. Dr. Le Huy Ham introduced to the delegation about the educational, training and scientific research activities of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology in particular and the University of Technology in general. Based on the strengths of the two sides, the two sides discussed the prospects of cooperation in the development of digital agriculture and agriculture in Vietnam. Regarding training, initially, the NVHBP will base on University’s exisiting training program to organize online courses to increase the practicality for students. At the same time, creating conditions for students of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology to intern at enterprises in NVHBP. In addition, the Association will connect to spread information about the Conference on Application of Information Technology in Agriculture in the Asia-Pacific region (APFITA 2022) to members of the Association and partners. related work in the Netherlands. Thereby, the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Association’s representative discussed the direction of cooperation in the future in the field of agricultural technology.

At the same time, reaffirm the diplomatic relationship and strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Netherlands.

Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People’s Committee introduced to the Association about the potential and strengths of the province such as: Lai Chau has a natural area of ​​over 9,000 km2, of which agricultural land accounts for 58%. Lai Chau has many potentials and advantages for agricultural development with a large natural area, a forest coverage rate of nearly 51% and over 240,000 hectares of unused land; There are many climate sub-regions suitable for the development of precious medicinal plants, flowers, fruit trees… Currently, the province has over 9,000 hectares of tea, over 7,800 hectares of fruit trees, nearly 13,000 hectares of rubber, over 5,600 hectares of land.

Besides, Lai Chau province also has its own advantages such as having the Ma Lu Thang national border gate (which will soon be an international border gate) which is convenient for industrial development and border trade; is implementing the project of connecting road between Lai Chau city and Noi Bai – Lao Cai highway, the project of road tunnel through Hoang Lien pass connecting Sapa town (Lao Cai province) with Tam Duong district (Lai Chau province). and is calling for investment in the airport in the form of a public-private partnership (PPP). Along with the gradually improved infrastructure, many top policies in the country support investment in agricultural development, these are the things favorable conditions for Lai Chau to exploit and develop agriculture, tourism, agro-processing industry.

Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tran Tien Dung affirmed that he is ready to welcome domestic and foreign investors, including Dutch investors, to invest and do business in Lai Chau province, especially in the field of agriculture. industry with the desire to receive and transfer production and processing projects, applying advanced science and technology, building a green, clean, sustainable agriculture, increasing productivity, product value, solving jobs, raise incomes, and improve the material and spiritual life of rural people.

40 DBAV-NVCC members visit Ambassador of Vietnam in The Netherlands

“Trade relationship between The Netherlands and Vietnam is now better than ever”

 

A delegation of more than forty members from Dutch and Vietnamese companies and organizations was received on Tuesday 7 June by HE Pham Viet Anh, Ambassador of the Socialist People’s Republic of Vietnam at the embassy in The Hague for informational consultation and a lunch. The companies and organizations are all active in Vietnam and the Netherlands and are members of the Dutch Business Association Vietnam / Netherlands Chamber of Commerce.

Joost Vrancken Peeters, Chairman of the Netherlands Vietnam Chamber of Commerce, is also optimistic about the arrival of Vietnamese companies in the Netherlands. “We are delighted that the Vietnamese car manufacturer VinFast is now active in the Dutch market and has joined our network and participated in this meeting,” said Vrancken Peeters.

According to the chairman of the Dutch Business Association Vietnam, Alexander Koch, Managing Director of Heineken Vietnam Brewery Ltd, the Netherlands is the largest investor in Vietnam of all EU countries and also the country’s second largest trading partner in the European Union. Despite the Covid epidemic, the number of Dutch companies doing business with Vietnam has remained stable in recent years and trade is expected to grow rapidly now that the country can be visited again. Two agreements, the “EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA)” and the “EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA)” play a positive role in this.

CELEBRATION OF KING’S DAY IN HANOI

On Wednesday 27 Apr 2022, in Hanoi, as per the invitation from the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, H.E. Ms. Elsbeth Akkerman, the representative of the Netherlands Vietnam Horticulture Business Platform (NVHBP) has attended the  reception to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.

After 2 years of limitation due to Covid-19 pandemic, it was our pleasure to meet up with Mrs. Dinh Thi Minh Huyen, Mrs. Ngo Thi Hoa – the former Ambassadors ,Mr. Nguyen Hai Tinh – the ex-Trade Consular of Vietnam in the Netherlands, representatives of PUM, some Vietnamese alumni graduated from Holland and many other business friends.

Orange Knowledge Workshop: Application of Netherlands Technologies in Development of Sustainable Agriculture in Vietnam

On April 18, 19, 20, 2022, at Vietnam University of Agriculture (VNUA) – Trau Quy, Gia Lam, Ha Noi., within the context of the Orange Knowledge Programme, financed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nuffic Neso Vietnam in collaboration with VNUA, has organized the Orange Knowledge Workshop: “Application of Netherlands Technologies in Development of Sustainable Agriculture in Vietnam”.

Context of the event: Vietnam is in the process of transitioning to “gaining more for less input” agriculture and is strongly committed to green agriculture. To do this, Vietnam needs to apply modern and sustainable technologies. The Netherlands is a pioneer in this field.

The Netherlands has trained high-quality human resources in the agriculture field for Vietnam including alumni from BSc, MSc, Ph.D. programs; through cooperation projects between institutes, universities, and enterprises of the two sides of technology, knowledge is transferred, and many human resources are trained.

Our goals:

Through this workshop, we aim to transfer knowledge and technology in sustainable agriculture to partners and the alumni of the Netherlands Alumni Network and of the Orange Knowledge Programme. We would also like to enable a network environment for alumni to connect with companies and institutes of the sector and strengthen ties between alumni in Vietnam.
