40 DBAV-NVCC members visit Ambassador of Vietnam in The Netherlands

“Trade relationship between The Netherlands and Vietnam is now better than ever”

A delegation of more than forty members from Dutch and Vietnamese companies and organizations was received on Tuesday 7 June by HE Pham Viet Anh, Ambassador of the Socialist People’s Republic of Vietnam at the embassy in The Hague for informational consultation and a lunch. The companies and organizations are all active in Vietnam and the Netherlands and are members of the Dutch Business Association Vietnam / Netherlands Chamber of Commerce.

Joost Vrancken Peeters, Chairman of the Netherlands Vietnam Chamber of Commerce, is also optimistic about the arrival of Vietnamese companies in the Netherlands. “We are delighted that the Vietnamese car manufacturer VinFast is now active in the Dutch market and has joined our network and participated in this meeting,” said Vrancken Peeters.

According to the chairman of the Dutch Business Association Vietnam, Alexander Koch, Managing Director of Heineken Vietnam Brewery Ltd, the Netherlands is the largest investor in Vietnam of all EU countries and also the country’s second largest trading partner in the European Union. Despite the Covid epidemic, the number of Dutch companies doing business with Vietnam has remained stable in recent years and trade is expected to grow rapidly now that the country can be visited again. Two agreements, the “EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA)” and the “EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA)” play a positive role in this.

Koch, thanked the ambassador for his hospitality and explanation of the economic developments in his country.

The Dutch Business Association Vietnam, based in Vietnam, and the Netherlands Vietnam Chamber of Commerce, based in the Netherlands, announced earlier this year to continue as a single trading platform. This intensive collaboration makes it possible to serve Dutch companies in Vietnam and Vietnamese companies in the Netherlands.

Medium-sized and large Dutch companies doing business in Vietnam include Heineken, FrieslandCampina, Unilever, De Heus, Shell, Rijk Zwaan, Vopak, Damen, Royal Haskoning, Nedspice, ING, DSM and KLM. These companies are also members of DBAV – NVCC, the business platform for companies that work between or in Vietnam and the Netherlands.
